How I maintained my starter locs

After watching a ton of YouTube videos about loc care and how-to's.
I concluded that less is more.

I proceeded to wash my hair once per week because my scalp was itchy(this caused the end of my locs to become loose)but I wasn't worried about that.
Some of the YouTube "experts" said that washing the locs regularly helped the locking process as well as spraying the hair with salt water.
I did not use the salt water spray on my crown so I can not say whether this is true or not.

Washing process

This was simple, I just used a herbal essence shampoo and water and intermittently I used  the neutrogena anti- residue shampoo to prevent build up.

Moisturization

I made a concoction of rose water, vitamin E oil and a few drops of peppermint oil.
I then spritz my hair and let it air dry, after which I massage my scalp with Jamaican black castor oil.
You can also use castor oil to steam your locs for a deeper moisturization.

How to deep condition locs

Wash your locs as you usually do and towel dry.
Apply a moisturizing oil such as jojoba, castor oil etc,
Cover you hair with a plastic cap for about 20 to 30 minutes or sit under a dryer for about 10 to 15 minutes (longer depending on the length of your locs)

Conclusion

It is important to keep your scalp clean and moisturized to foster growth and healthy looking locs.
