How I started my locs

Prepartions

Once I decided that I was going to loc my hair,
I started binge watching YouTube videos to get some knowledge on how to go about it,
because I was clueless on how to begin.

When I figured I had gleaned enough information,
I proceeded to wash my hair and towel dry it.
Then I oiled my scalp with Jamaican Black Castor oil and the length of my hair with Vitamin E oil.

Methods used to loc my hair
interlocking tools
Items I used

  • Two strand twist
  • Interlock
  • Instant lock
I sectioned my hair using the box braid pattern/style and two strand twist, then followed up with a interlocking needle to lock the roots so that my hair won't unravel all the way if it gets wet.

On the second day, I came across a video by a male loctician that was demonstrating the instant loc method.
This was done using a very thin crocheting needle which I already had so i figured it won't hurt to try.
I followed the video and did just that my hair looked like locs except it was soft because of the fine texture of my hair.

Conclusion

I've learnt that it doesn't matter which method is used to start locs it is a journey that requires patience.
